ANMF have received a number of reports from members about continuing problems with the payroll services for Calvary Health Care Tasmania (CHCT) in the South since its relocation to Cardiff in NSW on 29 June 2017. In response to these reports, ANMF have undertaken a survey of all members working at relevant sites in the South to identify how far-reaching the issue is.
The survey showed that payroll errors had become a major problem, with identified issues not being resolved in a timely manner. In one reported instance, it took nearly 3 months for an employee to receive their corrected pay. Problems with the payroll service have become more significant since being moved offsite, with no one left in the state to follow up inquiries promptly. The decision to delegate the payroll services to the Nurse Unit Managers (NUMs) has increased their workload significantly and is not a viable solution long term.

Other issues that were raised by members during the survey process were; the importance of a greater focus on clinical needs over budget needs and the desire to have a greater ANMF presence at the worksite in the future. We have taken these concerns on-board and we will continue to work closely with members at Calvary sites in the South to resolve these issues. ANMF will be making regular visits moving forward in order to improve communication and work towards finding solutions to member concerns.
