Last week the ANMF Tasmanian Branch held its Annual Delegates Conference (ADC) in Launceston over Thursday the 5th and Friday the 6th July. Close to 60 delegates were in attendance to hear from a range of inspirational and engaging speakers on topics relating to change makers and leaders. Key speakers at the two-day event included Colleen Johnstone from Palliative Care Tasmania, Grant Blake, Nigel Chong and Belinda Fettke. We were also privileged to have industry representatives from the ANMF and our Union affiliates including Annie Butler, Lori-Anne Sharp and Jessica Munday in attendance.
This year in lieu of speaker gifts, the ANMF made a generous donation to Orange Sky – an Australian charity that is changing the way we approach homelessness.
Not only was the conference a great opportunity for information gathering, it was also a fantastic opportunity for Workplace Representatives to network with other Reps from around the state and discuss current issues. A particular highlight for those in attendance was the bus trip to the Launceston General Hospital to support Emergency Department members currently undergoing industrial action as part of the Bring Your Own Bed campaign. This was a great reminder of the strength that our members as a collective have in making real change.
