ANMF received a response to a letter raising overtime and other workload concerns for members in theatre. ANMF understand several measures had been implemented in response to members concerns.

A meeting was held with the cardiac theatre nurses and the surgeons where a number of solutions were agreed to. ANMF are pleased to hear two new cardiac nurses have been recruited with a third casual recruit also commencing in 2019. Scrub nurses will now rotate through the cardiac theatre to gain experience and existing cardiac nurses spending two days a week in another speciality to receive a break.

In response to overtime concerns the traffic light overtime system will be recommenced for all areas of theatre. ANMF understand there is an afternoon shift that finishes at 20:00 to assist with lists but that additional afternoon shifts are being considered with a business case under development to increase establishment for this.
