Update: Meeting 9 August 2018 ANMF Organisers, Noni Morse and Phoebe Mansell met with a group of School Health Nurses on 23 July to introduce themselves and outline the roles of Organisers, Representatives and the Member Support team. An update on the public sector Enterprise Agreement negotiations was also provided to them.
Update: Work Health & Safety Risk 9 August 2018 ANMF have been advised of a Work Health and Safety risk relating to the absence of a theatre orderly after hours. ANMF is working with relevant managers to support a business case for the after-hours theatre orderly.
Update: Relocation of the Central Coast Community Nursing Team 9 August 2018 Primary Health management have provided a change proposal for the relocation of the Central coast community nursing team to Devonport. ANMF have provided a written response to the change proposal incorporating members concerns and questions. A local consultative committee will be formed, and a meeting is to be scheduled.
Update: RMO roster 9 August 2018 ANMF discussed this issue with the Chief Operating Officer who committed to the status quo. Should a change be required to the Resident Medical Officer (RMO) roster, a change proposal process will be undertaken and members will be notified.
Update: Log of Claims 9 August 2018 ANMF members met on 30 July to endorse the Enterprise Agreement (Nurses) Log of Claims. This will be provided to the employer and negotiation meetings will be scheduled.
Update: Change proposal 9 August 2018 Southern Cross Care Yaraandoo have provided a change proposal for a roster restructure. ANMF continues to provide support to individual members in response to letters of offer.
Update: Log of Claims 9 August 2018 Negotiations commenced on Monday, 16 July 2018 with the ANMF Log of Claims discussed. The next meeting is scheduled on Monday 14 August 2018 to discuss the employer’s response to the Log of Claims.
Update: Scholarship Eligibility 9 August 2018 The Health Workforce Scholarship Program (HWSP) is part of the Australian Government Department of Health’s Health Workforce Program. Through the HWSP the Australian Government aims to provide the flexibility that is needed to meet changes in supply and demand for particular services and areas of practice. Under the HWSP health professionals (in the fields of medicine, nursing and allied health) working in rural and remote locations (MMM 3-7) in Tasmania are eligible to apply for a scholarship or bursary to pursue further education or attend training courses. Update: Resident care and communication 8 August 2018 Feedback has been provided to the manager at OneCare Rubicon Grove about members ongoing concerns relating to changes about residents care and communication with staff. OneCare has offered support from the Senior human resources officer. Members are advised to document any incidents. ANMF continues to liaise with members to address these issues.
Update: Member Meeting 8 August 2018 ANMF will be meeting with members on Wednesday 15 August at 1300 hours to discuss industrial and professional issues. All nurses and care workers are welcome, non-members will be able to join at the meeting.
Update: Wage Offer 8 August 2018 ANMF have now received a wage offer from Aged Care Services Australia Group (ACSAG) management. ANMF will meet with members at Sandhill on Wednesday 8 August at 1400 hours and Riverside Views on Thursday 9 August at 1400 hours to discuss ACSAG’s wage offer and along with their overall 2018 EA offer. Following these meetings ANMF will meet back with ACSAG management on Friday 17 August to continue negotiations.
Update: Roster reductions 8 August 2018 ANMF have received advice from Eskleigh management that they are entering a consultative process regarding roster reductions for care staff. ANMF have scheduled a meeting with members on Tuesday 7 August at 1030 to answer questions and provided industrial advice on the proposed change.
Update: Member Meeting 8 August 2018 ANMF met with members at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) Department of Emergency (ED). Members raised issues about: increased workloads, skill mix concerns and regular double shifts. The hospital is working at increased capacity which is adding to bed blockage and limited ability for effective patient bed flow out of ED. These pressures are leading to an increase in waiting times and daily ramping of ambulances: adding further pressure on ED staff. ANMF will continue to meet and work with members in ED to determine what solutions and actions are required to give…
Update: Management response 8 August 2018 The ANMF will follow up with members of the Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMHS), about the management response regarding the step one Nursing Hours Per Patient Day (NHPPD) grievance raised around workloads, staffing levels, communication, safety in the workplace and HR concerns around workforce planning. ANMF will seek feedback from members to determine if any further action is required.
Update: Member Meeting 8 August 2018 The ANMF met with members at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) on the 2A surgical ward confirming that the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) management had increased ward clerk hours for an interim period while further data is collected. Given the assurance from THS management of additional hours effective 6 August, members resolved to suspend the commencement of workplace bans. Future meetings will be scheduled with ANMF, employer representatives, HR and nurses on 2A to address the broader issues still affecting the ward.
Update: ANMF attend Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) 8 August 2018 The ANMF attended the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) on Monday 30 July 2018 on behalf of our members working at the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) ward 4D. Update: On-Call Roster 8 August 2018 As a result of the ANMF raising a workload grievance at the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) Angiography suite, the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) implemented a working group to look at the state-wide issue of the on-call roster within the suite. The ANMF conducted a members meeting within the suite on Thursday 2 August 2018 to discuss with members the recently presented options for resolution. The ANMF are still awaiting feedback from members to conclude their consultation prior to providing the ANMF position from members.
Update: Workload Grievance 8 August 2018 Members at the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) Operating Room Suite (ORS) have raised their ongoing workload issues through the ANMF via a step 2 workload grievance. This workload grievance resulted in re-benchmarking of the area, the ANMF conducted a members meeting on Thursday 2 August 2018 to discuss the results of the re benchmarking. The ANMF will continue to advocate for their members working at the LGH ORS until their previously raised workload concerns are addressed.
Update: Campaign Escalates 8 August 2018 Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation members of the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) Emergency Department (ED) continue to hold Vigils out the front of the ED on the corner of Charles and Franklin Streets. Members have been standing outside in all weather conditions and as of the 6 August 2018 are up to day 34 of the Vigils. The ANMF conducted a members meeting at the LGH ED yesterday, this meeting was to discuss with members the recently received response from the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. The next negotiation meeting will be held on 20 August 2018. Emmerton Park The ANMF has sent the endorsed logs of claims to the employer. Mt St Vincent The ANMF will meet with members to discuss the employer’s written response to its log of claims.
