Did you know that we run an education facility? The Health Education and Research Centre (HERC) is located next to the ANMF office in Hobart. Together we provide nurses, midwives and care workers with access to quality education and continued professional development (CPD).

ANMF members have access to not only the ANMF Federal CPD education portal which provides professional development for all nurses, midwives, and care workers in Australia, we also offer face-to-face learning opportunities and online workshops in Tasmania. In addition, we also hold regular conferences and professional development opportunities throughout the year. These are a great way for members and non-members to advance and maintain their knowledge, skills, and attitudes for the provision of safe and competent care, whilst also contributing to their NMBA required hours.

Right now all members receive discounted rates on ANMF Tasmanian Branch run conferences and CPD sessions. We are offering 75% off our online workshops thanks to the support of Nurses Club Ltd. and our Health Education Research Centre (HERC).

As a condition of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) all nurses and midwives agree they “will maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge, expertise, and competence, and develop the personal and professional qualities required throughout their professional lives.” Professional Development is one-way nurses and midwives are able to maintain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for the provision of safe and competent nursing care. It is the responsibility of each nurse and midwife to ensure they are able to comply with their relevant professional standards and competency, which is difficult given the ever-changing context in which they work.

The ANMF Tasmanian Branch holds regular conferences and professional development opportunities throughout the year. These are a great way for members and non-members to advance and maintain their knowledge, skills, and attitudes for the provision of safe and competent care, whilst also contributing to their NMBA required hours.

The ANMF Federal Office provide a great range of learning opportunities for members. With three separate professional development training rooms, this online learning portal provides practice information on a number of topics as well as specialised areas of practice. The ANMF regularly adds new training modules to its training rooms with the new topics being derived directly from the requests of members.

  • Health Education Research Centre (HERC)

HERC is a Skills Tasmania endorsed Registered Training Organisation (RTO 40736). Established in 2013, it is the initiative of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation Tasmanian Branch. The purpose built education space provides accessible, high-quality training for health professionals. In addition to providing nursing qualifications, HERC also offer a wide range of continued professional development (CPD) opportunities. You can learn more about HERC and view the CPD sessions on in your area.
