New online mental health resource launched for professionals working with families

Australian Government funded parenting website raisingchildren.net.au has launched a new mental health resource for practitioners who work with families – an easy-access A–Z toolkit on child, teenage and parent mental health and wellbeing.

This free, evidence-based resource containsnearly 200 up-to-date articles, videos and guides in one online home for busy practitioners who want to connect parents with trusted mental health resources.

The new resource was designed with the changing landscape on mental health in mind, as mental wellbeing and ill-health become increasingly recognised as an issue and a more significant topic of public conversation.

More than 13% of 4–11-year-olds in Australia experienced a diagnosable mental health condition in the past 12 months, according to the Australian Child and Adolescent Survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing. And international studies indicate that 16–18% of children aged 0–5 years suffer from a mental health condition.

Practitioners can use the toolkit to quickly connect families withimpartial, commercial-free information. The diverse range of topics includes: depression; eating disorders; gender identity; mental health services; risky behaviour; self-harm; abuse; grief; ADHD; autism; anger and anger management; bullying; sleep and more.
