Launceston General Hospital (LGH) Update

Emergency Department (ED)

The ANMF attended a directions hearing with the Tasmanian Industrial Commission on 11 March 2020. A further Directions Hearing was held on Tuesday 17 March 2020, and the parties are to discuss timeframes and to set dates for Arbitration. The ANMF remain committed to addressing our members workload concerns in the LGH ED. The ANMF encourage all members to continue to raise workload concerns or concerns regarding Work Health and Safety with management. Alternatively, members can fill out a workloadform via your ANMF Workplace Representative or Organiser.

However, we also note that ED members are under additional stress at the moment dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak.  The ANMF will be liasing with senior nurses at the LGH to seek some interim support for members in the ED.

Members have provided ANMF with further advice in regards to the benchmark and nursing operations within the department. The ANMF is now writing to THS management detailing the matters raised by members. Further updates to follow.
