Advance Care Directives

The Tasmanian Government has announced a change to the Guardianship and Administration Act to provide greater legal force for Advance Care Directives. Essentially the Bill will give the legislation the weight it requires for the directive to be upheld in any setting, including in acute care.  This will allow persons, who have the legal capacity to do so, to make decisions about their future care. The summary of the proposed changes can be read here. The proposed changes to the Bill can be found here.

If you have any feedback, comments or concerns about the proposal please advise the ANMF Member Support Team by no later than 0900 hours on Wednesday 13 October 2020. This information will then be collated as a response, which is due on Friday 16 October 2020, on behalf of the ANMF.

ANMF members are also able to provide their own submissions. Details on how to do this can be found in the above links.

Updates correct as at 1 October 2020.
