Aged Care Updates – Statewide

Respect – Wellington Views

The ANMF visited members at Respect Wellington Views on 11 February 2021. We listened to a number of member concerns about workload issues, staff meetings, lifting policy, clinical support, and other workplace matters. Following this we have secured a commitment from management to meet with the ANMF and our members shortly for members to expand on these concerns.

Masonic Care Tasmania – Fred French and Peace Haven

The ANMF met with members at Masonic Care Tasmania (MCT) Peace Haven to discuss workplace issues on Tuesday 16 February 2021. Members stated that they feel unsupported by management at Peace Haven when raising ongoing workload concerns. A follow up meeting to distribute workload forms will be held with the ANMF soon. May Shaw – James Scott Wing and Aminya

The ANMF has received correspondence from members at May Shaw Health Centre (MSHC) (Aminya Residential Care and James Scott Wing) where workloads continues to be an ongoing issue despite interventions put in place by MSHC.

Regis – Legana

The ANMF met with management on behalf of members at Regis Legana and discussed the outcome of this meeting with members on 3 February 2021. Members stated that they would like the ANMF to support them in meetings exploring workplace issues. The Facility Manager has agreed to this. The first of these meetings is set to take place on 17 March 2021. Please keep an eye out for meeting details via email.

Southern Cross Care Tasmania

Statewide

Southern Cross Care Tasmania (SCCT) cancelled the latest Enterprise Bargaining meeting. A rescheduled meeting has now been set for 9am on 24 February 2021. SCCT are still delaying matters as we await a response to your Log of Claims and a wage offer. While this happens, members wages fall further behind those of like-employers.

Marys Grange

SCCT continue with the process of transferring residents and staff out of Marys Grange.

Sandown Apartments

The ANMF are committed to progressing the issue of loss of care hours on behalf of members at Sandown. ANMF officials met with members at the site on Tuesday 9 February 2021, to consult on issues. During this meeting members confirmed that SCCT are struggling to fill the short 7am-10am shifts during weekdays, and they are offering 7am-1pm shifts that are more acceptable to the work/life balance so important to our members. ANMF representatives were also pleased to meet with the new Facility Manager, Lauretta Stace, and brief her on the situation during our visit.

Rosary Gardens

The ANMF met with members in early February 2021. Prior to this visit we were made aware that there is a major change to staffing at Rosary Gardens, with the addition of Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses and the extension of short Extended Care Assistant shifts. This is great news and encouraging in view of ANMF members continually raising concerns.

Fairway Rise

The ANMF will visit SCCT Fairway Rise soon to follow up on outstanding member workplace concerns and the impact of a change of managers at the facility.

 Rivulet (previously BUPA South Hobart)

The ANMF note significant staffing changes at SCCT’s Rivulet site (previously BUPA South Hobart), as well as the impact of the recent accreditation visit. We encourage members to contact the ANMF Member Support Team for support and advice on any of these matters. ANMF Organisers will be visiting the site to meet with members soon.

Yaraandoo

ANMF officials met with members from Yaraandoo to discuss with members SCCT’s change proposal to reduce the kitchen/servery team hours, which may result in increased workload  for nurses and care workers. The ANMF will continue to support and advocate on behalf of our members working in the challenging environment of residential aged care. You can read the latest update from us here.
