Launceston General Hospital Masterplan Consultation

Launceston General Hospital Masterplan Consultation

Meetings commenced in September 2019 and have occurred sporadically since, with obvious interruptions due to COVID-19. However, the last meeting of the Reference Group was held on 27 October 2020, where rich discussion was held regarding longer term health service needs and opportunities to utilise additional infrastructure around the LGH precinct.

Prior to this meeting, KP Health presented an analysis of populations projections, types of presentations and ultimately what the health service would need in terms of resources to meet the ongoing needs of the population. Clearly, without implementation of significantly changed models and delivery of care in the community, additional beds were identified as being required.

However, at the conclusion of the 27 October 2020 meeting, no draft plan was discussed. The ANMF were called to a meeting, along with the AMA, on 9 February 2021 where Project Lead Shane Gregory and Chief Medical Officer Tony Lawler indicated that a draft plan had been completed after consulting with sub-groups of the Reference Group, which did not include the ANMF.

Initially, the ANMF were informed that there would be a two-week period for us to consult with LGH and northern based members. However, we have been able to secure a longer consultation process throughout March and will soon be seeking your input into the draft Masterplan for the LGH. Please keep an eye out for further emails from us regarding this matter.

It is vital that members engage with the process and identify any issues both from an infrastructure perspective but also from an operational perspective along with solutions through this process.

Updates correct as at 18 February 2021.
