COVID-19 Vaccination

COVID-19 Vaccination

The ANMF continue to lobby the Federal Government for paid leave for aged care and the disability sector to receive the COVID-19 vaccination and for paid leave in the event of illness post a COVID-19 vaccination.

In addition, if you work in the public sector and experience any flu like side effects post vaccination the following applies:

  1. You need to first access your personal leave to take sick leave,
  2. If you do not have any personal leave, you are able to access the special COVID-19 leave.

For those who are casual workers, you are able to access COVID-19 special leave to cover any booked shifts or shifts where you were offered a shift to work and were unable to due to being unwell post a COVID-19 vaccine. This should be clearly recorded on your timesheet.

The head of agency can also consider any special requests to access COVID-19 special leave when personal leave entitlements still exist, an example of such an instance may be where an employee has a chronic health condition where regular use of sick leave is required.

Updates correct as at 27 May 2021.
