Free IPC Training for Members Working in Aged Care

Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) training has been rolled out to the aged care workforce across Tasmania in line with the Commonwealth’s requirements.  The aim of this training program is to make sure that residential aged care facilities, and staff, are better prepared to prevent and respond to infectious diseases, including COVID-19 and influenza. IPC training is critical to the safe, effective delivery of personal and clinical care in aged care. This is particularly the case during the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

You should be trained in basic IPC practices when you begin employment at a facility, and at regular intervals as determined by the current level of risk. This IPC training should be appropriate to your role and should include, at least, hand hygiene and the use of PPE.

The Department of Health Tasmania, via the Aged Care Emergency Operations Centre (ACEOC) team, has enlisted two training providers to deliverfree’ IPC training to all RACFs workers within the State.  This unique opportunity will ensure that you are meeting the minimum recommendations from the Commonwealth.

Training sessions run for 90 minutes and conveniently occurs on-site at your facility.

To learn more or register, please contact your Infection Prevention Control Lead (IPCL) within your workplace or talk to your facility’s administration.
