Public Sector Updates – North West

West Coast District Hospital

The ANMF followed endorsement from members to raise a Step 2 Workload Grievance in line with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Interim Agreement 2013, Appendix C. The concerns raised relate to ongoing sustained and unreasonable workloads, rostering concerns, on call and skill mix. The ANMF has requested a Specialist panel to be convened to discuss the concerns raised and work towards a resolution that will see members current workload pressures resolved.

Smithton District Hospital

Following recent consultation with members working at the Smithton District Hospital, the ANMF has sent correspondence to management raising concerns relating to workloads. These concerns are due to changes in the GP surgery opening hours that is impacting upon the presentations to the hospital after hours, and the multiple non-nursing duties that are required to be completed by clinical staff because there is no Hospital Aide or Ward Clerk rostered to work at the Hospital. The ANMF has requested a response to the concerns by Monday 27 September 2021, once we have a response the ANMF will consult with members.

Updates correct as at 16 September 2021.
