Launceston General Hospital

Master Plan

The ANMF has received a response from the Department of Health (DoH) to feedback, provided on behalf of ANMF members, regarding the LGH Master Plan for consultation. Click here for further details.

Ward 3R

The ANMF met with 3R members on Thursday 9 September to discuss current staffing shortages. The ANMF will now work with members to develop a workload form to capture workload and short staffing trends and will from this will draft a letter of concern to THS management. Further updates to follow.

Surgical Short Stay Unit (SSSU)

The ANMF has received and collated feedback from the member survey regarding the proposed Nursing Hours per Patient Day (NHpPD) Benchmark and the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) Change Proposal for the Surgical Short Stay Unit (SSSU) moving to a 24 hour per day, 7 days a week unit. Holman Clinic

On Tuesday 27 July 2021, the ANMF met with LGH Holman Clinic members to discuss the ongoing workload concerns. At the meeting, members endorsed the ANMF to liaise with THS management on their behalf to resolve these concerns. Subsequently, the ANMF has written to the THS proposing 3 solutions. Emergency Department (ED)

The ANMF has received multiple contacts from members in the LGH ED regarding the current working environment which has not improved from the long-standing matters of ramping and access block. The ANMF is meeting with ED ANMF Representatives this week and then further with members on Tuesday 21 September 2021. The ANMF is seeking members’ position on short term solutions that can be put to THS management while efforts are made to recruit the additional 21.3 FTE nursing staff. Further updates to follow.
