ANMF COVID-19 Newsflash: May Shaw – Aminya

ANMF Win – payment of night shift penalties
The ANMF have received confirmation that all night shift nurses who were paid the incorrect night shift penalty, should be in receipt of backpay in the next pay period. This is a huge win for members, and we are grateful for May Shaw’s promptness in resolving the matter with ANMF members.

Workload concerns
The meeting was an opportunity to revisit workload concerns – which have continued to impact on work conditions at May Shaw Health Centre. Members provided their preferred plan for next steps, and the ANMF will support members in this process.

COVID-19
Members also discussed concerns pertaining to timely communication, and decision making by May Shaw Health Centre during the COVID-19 Omicron outbreak. Though the ANMF wrote to May Shaw on multiple occasions (i.e., to the CEO regarding May Shaw’s COVID-19 plan, and to May Shaw managers regarding the decision to turn off air conditioning), the ANMF did not receive any response. We encourage all members to continue notifying their mangers via email and to include the ANMF in this correspondence if concerns continue. The ANMF understands, however, that the facility’s lockdown has now ceased. If this information is incorrect, please notify the ANMF as soon as possible.
