Aged Care Updates – Statewide

Southern Cross Care Tasmania (SCCT)

SCCT Statewide Member Zoom Meeting

The ANMF held a statewide Zoom meeting of SCCT members on Tuesday 25 January 2022. Members discussed the COVID-19 response, staffing, leadership, cuts to servery and catering, and the Enterprise Agreement (EA) Protected Action Ballot (PAB). Thanks to members for their attendance in this busy time.

Changes to leadership at SCC Guildford Young Grove and Fairway Rise

ANMF members await the arrival of new Facility Managers at Guilford Young Grove and at Fairway Rise. Members have raised concerns about the inconsistency of clinical support, stores availability, and appropriate supplies for wound care. Also staffing, and staff replacements are closely related to the absence of these leaders. This is having a profound effect on morale and teamwork in the sites affected. The ANMF encourages members to look after themselves and their colleagues in these unreasonable situations and use internal SCCT reporting systems if you can, to highlight these issues.

Enterprise Agreement (EA)

The ANMF eagerly awaits the result of your Protected Action Ballot (PAB). The voting closed on Wednesday 2 February 2022. Look out for an email with updates. Unfortunately, the HACSU PAB did not succeed.

Changes to Servery and Catering

The ANMF is still getting feedback from members about the impact of this change, especially on care staff and their ability to provide adequate fluids and nutrition to residents. If you have any concerns please contact our Member Support Team via email at membersupport@anmftas.org.au

Other Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACF) sites

QV Care

Management scheduled an Enterprise Agreement (EA) meeting for Wednesday 2 February 2022 to discuss the upcoming agreement. The ANMF are yet to receive a final draft of the Agreement.  Look out for updates by email, and future consultation meetings via text.

Regis

An EA meeting was held on Friday 21 January 2022, and a new Draft Agreement will be presented soon for members to assess. The employer has agreed to retain the status quo for former PCT transferring employees – there will be no change to the allowance in lieu of salary packaging.  The ANMF is now awaiting the employer’s revised offer in writing. Look out for an email or text with meeting details.

Korongee Village – Glenview

The ANMF met with members on Tuesday 18 January 2022 to discuss staffing and overwhelming workloads. We have sent further correspondence to Glenview/Korongee CEO and Executive Manager listing member concerns. An email will be sent with details of a further meeting.

Other Tasmanian Health Service (THS) Primary Health sites

Eastern Shore Community Nursing

The ANMF will be attending another scheduled step 2 specialist panel meeting with the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) on Thursday 3 February 2022. This meeting will be to assess how the THS plans to reduce workloads are faring. A members meeting will occur after this meeting with emails to follow.  

Bruny Island Community Health Centre (BICHC)

The ANMF understands that the Director of Nursing (DON) and Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) visited nurses in mid-January to discuss working arrangements. We remain eagerly anticipating a Change Proposal and have requested such on numerous occasions. When a Change Proposal is provided, the ANMF will meet with members to discuss. We would still encourage members to act on any situations that compromises care by logging SLRS and building a record of events that would usually have been dealt with by nurse call outs, and their outcome.

Midlands Multi-Purpose Centre – Oatlands

The ANMF exchanged emails with Oatlands management regarding staffing and roster concerns. Management is meeting with ANMF representatives to discuss these matters this week. Look out for email updates.

May Shaw – Aminya

The ANMF has received confirmation that all night shift nurses who were paid the incorrect night shift penalties will be back paid for these penalties in the next pay period. The ANMF is continuing to progress workload concerns.

Masonic Care Tasmania (MCT)

The ANMF has been made aware that across some areas at MCT, the public holiday allowance has not been paid for Christmas Day – Saturday 25 December 2021. If you believe you have not been paid correctly, please contact payroll in the first instance, but if the matter is not resolved at this level please contact and supply our Member Support Team with your payslip for the relevant period. Email membersupport@anmftas.org.au.
