Aged Care Updates – Statewide

Southern Cross Care (SCCT)

Changes to leadership at SCCT

Members report a further loss of managers at SCCT, 3 from head office, 1 Facility Manager, who had only been in the role 2 weeks. This means SCCT has lost six managers in 2022 alone, to add to the 20 over the past two years. Does SCCT have a Board and, if yes, are they awake? The ANMF encourages members to feedback issues related to absence or instability of leadership in SCCT sites, especially in Human Resources matters, and members are encouraged to look after themselves and their colleagues in these unreasonable circumstances. Use internal SCCT reporting systems, if you can, to highlight the impact on your workload and morale and please contact the ANMF if we can be of any assistance.

Enterprise Agreement (EA)

The ANMF has conducted follow up meetings with members at all SCCT sites. The ANMF will be writing to your employer to see if they are prepared to enter into to further discussion and is still considering running a second, electronic Protected Action Ballot (PAB). Look out for an email and make sure you are ready to vote, to ensure that we can fight for a better offer of wages and conditions for you. We also note that it appears members, working at Rivulet, did not receive ballot papers in the last process.

SCCT Changes to Servery and Catering

The ANMF is aware that not all sites have the same arrangements and look to members to report back to us how these changes are affecting you, your workloads, and your residents.

Regis

The ANMF is due to meet with Regis management on Friday 4 March 2022. Following that we will visit members with a final draft of the proposed EA and summary of points. Look out for a text with meeting day and time.

The ANMF has emailed management at Korongee, and is still awaiting a response to members correspondence and request for a meeting to address the staffing issues. Keep an eye out for emails about the meetings.

Corumbene Aged Care, New Norfolk

The ANMF has received reassurances from the Corumbene CEO about recruitment and staffing. Look out for a meeting soon to further discuss.

Baptcare Karingal

The ANMF Member Engagement Officer Nicki Hood met with members from Karingal on Monday 21 February 2022. Members had concerns with regards to payment for time taken to complete Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs). The ANMF raised the concern with your employer who stated that employees were not expected to arrive early for their rostered shifts, rather a test can occur in work time.
