The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation Tasmanian Branch (ANMF) will be announcing and celebrating the winners of the annual Aged Care Excellence Awards at the Aged Care Conference in Hobart today, 11th May.
“It is an absolute delight to celebrate and acknowledge the hard work that nurses and care workers put into caring for their residents and clients in aged care. Nominations received during the application process highlighted the level at which these individuals go above and beyond each and every day,” said ANMF Tasmanian Branch Secretary Emily Shepherd.
“It is a real privilege for the ANMF each year to hear the stories of, and recognise, Nurses and Care workers who are striving to provide the best care to their clients and improving their quality of life, often in challenging circumstances.
“It also highlights the critical need for valuing the amazing work that nurses and aged care workers by improving conditions in the aged care sector, which the ANMF has been strongly advocating for during the current federal election campaign.
“Aged care has been one of the most critical workforces in the country throughout the pandemic, workers risk their health and safety continuously during outbreaks to ensure the safety of residents.
“Labor, the Greens, Independent Member for Clark, Andrew Wilkie, and the Jacqui Lambie Network have all committed to our aged care key asks. They have signed our pledge for aged care reform because they have seen the dire situation the sector is in, and that change is the only way out,” Ms Shepherd said.
Media are invited to attend the Aged Care Conference today at 12.15pm just before the lunch break to interview Emily Shepherd and attendees.
