Aged Care Updates – Statewide
Southern Cross Care Tasmania (SCCT)
Changes to leadership at SCCT
SCCT report further loss of two Executive managers from their organisation. This has resulted in an embarrassing reorganisation of Executive positions, within a structure created by the current CEO soon after her commencement with SCCT. This only serves to confirm our members fears and uncertainty with the leadership of their organisation.
Underpayments Issue
SCCT are close to finalising the issue of underpayment to members. Please keep a look out for an internal memo and communication. The ANMF are pressing SCCT to structure any payments in a way that will minimise members taxation burden.
ANMF complaints are being heard and actioned. WorkSafe Tasmania have confirmed they are working through the ANMF correspondence regarding SCCT management’s failure to help staff activate their COVID-19 response.
The ANMF still encourage members to supply feedback on issues related to the absence or instability of leadership at SCCT sites, especially in COVID-19 management. Members are encouraged to look after themselves and their colleagues in these unreasonable situations. Use internal SCCT reporting systems, if you can, to highlight the impact on your workload and morale. Notify the ANMF if you are unable to get a response from your internal systems.
Enterprise Agreement (EA)
The ANMF Industrial Team are currently looking over the final Draft EA Document prior to SCCT putting the EA to a vote in coming weeks. Keep an eye out for a newsflash with detail of changes.
Changes to servery and catering
The ANMF has been made aware these changes are still affecting members, staff, and residents. The ANMF encourage members to continue to let SCCT know how these changes are affecting your role.
Huon Regional Care
The ANMF is currently reviewing the final draft EA agreement. Look out for a newsflash with detail of the changes.
QV Care
The Non-Nursing EA is ready to go out to ballot, the ANMF are waiting on notification as to ballot dates. We are also awaiting confirmation in relation to a ballot for the Nurses EA.
Regis
The ANMF are awaiting an updated offer for members to consider from the Service Industry Advisory Group (SIAG) and Regis. Members will be consulted further once an updated offer has been received. Look out for a text message with a meeting day and time soon.
Glenview
The ANMF and Glenview met for pre-bargaining discussions on Tuesday 12 April. Formal EA meetings have been held up due to illness. We hope for negotiations to start soon. Keep an eye out for updates.
Korongee Village (KV), (Glenview)
The ANMF are very pleased to report that Natalie Wilson and Arlene Calaunan have been approved by members to be their Representatives at KV. Further to this, following our meeting with members, regarding long running concerns about staffing, workloads, and recruitment issues, the ANMF is forwarding correspondence to KV senior management, Worksafe Tasmania, and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, regarding the impact of these issues on the health and safety of members in their workplace, and the consequent risk to residents.
Corumbene Aged Care, New Norfolk
The ANMF has scheduled a meeting at Corumbene soon. Keep an eye out for a text message and a meeting flyer to be distributed shortly.
Updates correct as at 26 May 2022.
