Public Sector Updates – North

Ward 4O/B

The ANMF has had further contact from members in regard to midwife shortages on Ward 4O/B. We have taken steps this week to re-engage with the interim Launceston General Hospital (LGH) management and provide a brief on the current Step 2 grievance and the need to follow up urgently on actions committed from the Step 2 Specialist panel meeting on Wednesday 15 June 2022. Once in receipt of an update form, management and the ANMF will provide an update to members.

Ward 5D

The Tasmanian Health Service (THS) requested an extension to the response by date of the 5D step 1 grievance. It is understood that that the email correspondence from the ANMF to the THS went missing. The ANMF expected a response by COB Wednesday 6 July 2022. On receipt of this response, the ANMF will provide members an update.

Emergency Department (ED)

The ANMF met with ED members on Wednesday 6 July 2022 to report back on solutions achieved through the 2021/22 TIC process and to discuss current workload matters. Newsflash updates to follow shortly.

Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS) North

On Wednesday 29 June 2022, the ANMF met with members from CHaPS North, to discuss the current workload concerns of members working within the service. Members have unanimously endorsed the ANMF raising a Step 1 workload grievance. We are now in the process of drafting and sending this letter to management. Further updates to follow. 

Launceston Community Nurses

The ANMF met with Launceston Community Nurses to discuss the change proposal issued to members in April 2022. The ANMF has sought feedback from members and will provide this to the THS. Members will be informed of any outcomes from this process.

Beaconsfield District Hospitals

The ANMF again represented members at the monthly rostering meeting. An ANMF Rep raised concerns about issues of some members still not receiving their contracted hours. The ANMF and the THS will be issuing a survey in July 2022 to gauge feedback on the three-month roster and we encourage members to participate in this opportunity.
