Aged Care Updates – Statewide

Southern Cross Care Tasmania (SCCT)

Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC) outcome following COVID-19 outbreaks at Guilford Young Grove (GYG) and Rosary Gardens (RG).

Changes to leadership

SCCT reports the much-needed recruitment of three new Facility Managers in the coming weeks. If successful, this may provide for a manager at every SCCT site.

Underpayments Issue

Apparently SCCT is close to finalising this issue. Look out for internal memo and communication. The ANMF is pressing SCCT to structure any payments in a way that will minimise members taxation burden.

Lack of Clinical Leadership

The ANMF still encourages members to feedback issues related to absence or instability of leadership in SCCT sites, especially in Covid-19 management. Members are encouraged to look after themselves and their colleagues in these unreasonable situations. Use internal SCCT reporting systems, and escalate to next level management if you can, to highlight the impact on your workload and morale. Notify the ANMF if you are unable to get a response from your internal systems, and managers. Also, notify the ANMF if you are ordered to attend a one-to-one meeting so we can follow up and ensure procedural fairness and support.

Enterprise Agreement (EA)

The ANMF Industrial Team has only just received the final Draft EA document prior to SCCT putting it to a vote in the coming weeks. Look out for a Newsflash with detail of any changes.

Other Residential Aged Care Facility sites including Enterprise Agreements (EAs)

OneCare

The ANMF visited Bishop Davies Court on Monday 1 August 2022 to discuss EA rollover offer of 3% for Nurses from One Care. A further meeting at Barossa Park will discuss the EA offer and other workplace matters.

Christian Homes Tasmania (CHT)

The ANMF will visit soon to discuss the latest in the long EA process at CHT. Look out for a meeting date and time.

Regis

Another EA meeting coming soon. Regis is also attending to an underpayment issue.

Glenview

Glenview has ignored members request for a higher rollover figure. Also, they intend paying the new increase with the most recent pay run. They have stated they are committed to working with staff to improve workplace matters.

Korongee Village (KV), (Glenview)

See above for Glenview EA change.

MCT Freemasons

ANMF members report significant changes to workplace matters at Freemasons. The ANMF will visit soon to listen to these concerns. Look out for a flyer with date and time.

Updates correct as at 3 August 2022.
