Public Sector Updates – North West

Mersey Community Hospital (MCH)

Close Observation Unit (COU)

The ANMF COU Benchmarking was endorsed by members at a meeting on Wednesday 20 July 2022 noting that it may not address the workloads. The THS has advised the request for increased resourcing as per the benchmarking data will be submitted without delay. Further consultation will be required to determine if the needs of the unit will be met by the current benchmarking as well as a review of administration support.

Mersey Community Hospital (MCH)

Emergency Department (ED)

The ANMF MCH ED members endorsed the 2022 Benchmarking increase noting that a shift coordinator was not included. The THS has agreed to include a request for a floor coordinator in the minute to the Chief Executive for resourcing approval. Members will be kept informed of the outcome.

North West Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS)

The ANMF, on behalf of members at North West Child Health and Parenting Service, has received a response to the Step 1 Workload Grievance. We are in the process of convening a member meeting to determine next steps is in process, watch for the text message invite.

North West Cancer Centre (NWCC)

Nursing Hours per Patient Day (NHpPD) Grievance Step 2

ANMF officials met with Tasmanian Health Service (THS) management for the first of the Specialist panel meeting. Members are invited to meet the North West Organiser to discuss the response and provide further direction at 0800hrs on Thursday 18 August 2022 for Oncology nurses or Friday 19 August 2022 for Clinical Care Coordinators.
