Aged Care Updates – Statewide

Southern Cross Care Tasmania (SCCT)

Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC) outcome following COVID-19 outbreaks at Guilford Young Grove (GYG) and Rosary Gardens (RG)

Changes to leadership at SCCT

Another lost facility manager at Rosary Gardens. Unfortunately, but not surprising to ANMF members, the new Facility Manager at Rosary Gardens, only lasted six days in the facility before resigning.

Underpayments Issue

Apparently SCCT is close to finalising this issue. Please contact the ANMF with any further queries about this.

Lack of Clinical Leadership

The ANMF still encourages members to feedback issues related to absence or instability of leadership in SCCT sites, especially in Covid-19 management. Members are encouraged to look after themselves and their colleagues in these unreasonable situations. Use internal SCCT reporting systems, and escalate to next level management if you can, to highlight the impact on your workload and morale. Notify the ANMF if you are unable to get a response from your internal systems, and managers. Also, notify the ANMF if you are ordered to attend a one-to-one meeting so we can follow up and ensure procedural fairness and support.

Enterprise Agreement (EA)

The ANMF’s Industrial Team still awaits a finalised draft of the Enterprise Agreement to check. A Newsflash will be sent out as soon as this has been done.

Rosary Gardens

In the absence of a Facility Manager, the ANMF encourages members to action concerns as above under Lack of Clinical Leadership.

Other Residential Aged Care Facility sites including EAs

OneCare

The ANMF has visited all sites across the state and members have agreed to the proposed rollover. Look out for a Newsflash regarding the timing of the change.

Christian Homes Tasmania (CHT)

The EA has been agreed to by members.

The ANMF visited the site in Warrane to consult with members about the EA offer. Members have rejected the offer and the ANMF is planning the next step in the EA process.

Glenview management has stated their committed to working with staff to improve workplace matters. Members are yet to see any evidence of this regarding a meeting or any other collaboration.

Korongee Village (KV), (Glenview)

Management is seeking members to participate in the Work Health and Safety (WHS) committee at Korongee Village (KV). HR manager states a new Facility Manager is starting soon at KV.

Masonic Care Tasmania (MCT) Freemasons

The ANMF visited on Tuesday 30 August 2022 and discussed workplace matters, along with staff and management recruitment. The ANMF has raised member concerns about EA lack of progress with the Facility Manager Alison Natera, and she will action this through to senior management.

Updates correct as at 1 September 2022.
