Royal Hobart Hospital

RHH – Emergency Department (ED)
The ANMF has had meetings with both the local area management and executive management regarding identified workload and staffing concerns within RHH ED. As a result of these discussions, the ANMF has committed to write formally on all issues raised by members at the member meeting on Friday 2 September 2022, in the hope of producing a response to the urgent need for re-Benchmarking as well as consideration to the scale/scope of duties associated with higher-level positions within the department. Members will receive a full copy of both the outgoing and incoming pieces of correspondence once a letter of reply has been received.

RHH – Post Anaesthetic Recovery Unit (PARU)
The ANMF has written formally to Tasmania Health Service (THS) management regarding ongoing changes within PARU related to the Close Observation After Surgery (COAS) program. The primary concern in this regard is the introduction of new/additional patients previously earmarked for a higher level of acuity post-surgery and that such changes have been introduced without due consultation. A request to the deadline for response has been made by the THS, and agreed to by the ANMF, with a response now expected by COB Friday 7 October 2022.

RHH – Cardiac Cath Lab (CCL)
The ANMF, on Wednesday 7 September 2022 attended, at THS’ invitation, a meeting to discuss potential additions to be made to the Cardiac Cath Lab establishment including 3.97 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) direct-care staff and 1.0 FTE Grade 5 Clinical Nurse Specialist. Having reviewed all materials presented, the ANMF has written to THS management posing a series of questions/observations and requested a response by Thursday 29 September 2022. Once received, the ANMF will provide all members with a copy of both pieces of correspondence for review and seek to schedule an urgent member meeting for review.

Updates correct as at 27 September 2022.
