The ANMF Welcomes Frontline Bonus and Strategic Working Group
18 October 2022
The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) Tasmanian Branch has welcomed the Government’s announcement today that the recently registered Frontline COVID-19 Agreement will mean that ANMF members will receive their long awaited $2000 (pro rata) Bonus across two payments in November.
Importantly, this will now allow for the convening of the Strategic Nursing Recruitment and Retention Working Group which will look at tangible solutions to address the challenging recruitment issues, addressing members workloads and also looking at support for a growing number of early career nurses.
“Members will no doubt welcome the frontline bonus when it arrives over the course of November, however, they will likely be more welcoming of the Nursing Recruitment and Retention Working Group being convened as workloads and recruitment issues remain the key priorities for all nurses and midwives,” ANMF Tasmanian Branch Secretary Emily Shepherd said.
The Strategic Nursing Recruitment and Retention Working Group will be convened next week and will include key ANMF representatives along with the Department of Health and Chief Nurse and Midwife representatives. The ANMF has also requested the inclusion of an Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery representative on the working group.
“The ANMF is very much looking forward to the opportunity on behalf of members to sit down with the Department and focus on key mutual priorities and importantly solutions to ease the burden on members who have long been struggling with high workloads and vacant positions,” Ms Shepherd said.
