Public Sector Updates – North West

North West Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS)

The ANMF, on behalf of members at North West Child Health and Parenting Service, is pursuing outcomes to the workload concerns via a Step 2 Grievance Specialist Panel. Next meeting is planned for Tuesday 1 November 2022 for a progress update.

North West Cancer Centre (NWCC) Benchmarking

Nursing Hours per Patient Day (NHpPD) Grievance Step 2

Potential solutions to the NHpPD Workload Grievance at NWCC were discussed at the Step 2 Specialist Panel meeting. The 2021/2022 benchmarking data will have an impact on staffing. The ANMF now has the data and will seek members direction at a meeting on Thursday 27 October 2022.

Mersey Community Hospital Medical Day Procedure Unit – Oncology

The ANMF met with members at Mersey Community Hospital (MCH) Oncology on Tuesday 18 October 2022. ANMF members unanimously endorsed the 2022 benchmarking increase noting that the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) at current FTE have a positive impact on workload.

King Island District Hospital

The ANMF met with members regarding a number of workload concerns which have been discussed with Tasmanian Health Service (THS) management in a collaborative manner. They are:

  • Text Messages for shift vacancies
  • On Call
  • Clinical Nurse Educators
  • Access to admin and other supports 7 days per week
