Public Sector Updates – North

Launceston General Hospital (LGH)

Intensive Care Unit

On Monday 1 May 2023, the ANMF met with LGH Intensive Care Unit (ICU) members to discuss the proposed 2023 ICU benchmark. The ANMF received feedback from members regarding the importance of the access nurse positions as a result of benchmarking, and any application of a clinical coach must support these positions ongoing with a view to avoiding redeployment of this resource. The ANMF committed to members a process of following up this matter with Tasmanian Health Service (THS) management and providing a report back to members as soon as possible.

Ward 4D, Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Ward 5D

Further to the THS decision to remove after hours hospital aide and ward clerk positions, the ANMF can advise that the THS has not responded to our correspondence requesting that these positions remain, and for a consultation to proceed on the planned removal. The ANMF is now considering an application to the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) on the THS failure to consult. Further updates to follow.

Updates correct as at 3 May 2023.
