Public Sector Updates – North

Launceston General Hospital (LGH)

Ward 4D, Ward 5D, Emergency Department (ED) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Further to the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) decision to remove after-hours hospital aide and ward clerk positions, the ANMF has written to the Premier to seek an intervention and secure funding. Subsequent to this, the ANMF is also considering an application to the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) on the THS failure to consult. Further updates to follow.

The ANMF met with members at the LGH and King Meadows to discuss the proposed benchmarking completed on 29 April 2023. Members have provided feedback on the proposal which detailed an increase of staffing for the PM shift at the LGH and consideration for a nurse practitioner at Kings Meadows. The ANMF will now seek to reconvene a meeting with the THS to discuss these matters. Further updates to follow.

Updates correct as at 17 May 2023.
