Aged Care Updates – Statewide

Aged Care Employee Day

The ANMF southern team has been travelling across various aged care facilities in the greater Hobart area on Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 August 2023, delivering flyers and chocolates as a token of our appreciation to all aged care workers in celebration of Aged Care Workers Day 2023. Additional visits are scheduled to occur throughout the remainder of the week. We take this opportunity to offer our most sincere gratitude to our valued nurses, care workers, and all associated staff working tirelessly to provide the highest standards of care to fellow Tasmanians.

Organisers in the North and North West of the state have been visiting members through our North and North West Roadshow, with more meetings to come next week. Feel free to pop in and engage with our team at your site.

Southern Cross Care (Tas) Inc. (SCCT)

The ANMF has received concerning reports from members about the lack of experienced staff and the stalled implementation of the Household Model of Care which SCCT has assured would provide optimal care to all its residents. We strongly urge any member to report any sub standards of care to the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC) on their website here.

The ANMF has received queries from SCCT members in relation to medication endorsed carers and the delegation of authority, in particular, supervision and assessment of medication endorsed carers. A newsflash with links to the guidelines has been sent to SCCT members and can be accessed here.

North West Roadshow

ANMF officials have been out and about visiting sites in the north west of the state. Members are encouraged to update their details here before the end of August. All Northern and North West members who confirm or update their details go into the draw to win a $300 Gift Card!

Updates correct as at 9 August 2023.
