The ANMF engaged with members and distributed the latest flyers at the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) in support of the Retain Recruit Recognise campaign. King Island members should have received the Refer a Friend competition flyer, don’t forget the competition ends Saturday 30 September 2023, encourage your work colleagues to join the ANMF to enter the competition.

ANMF officials visited Mersey Community Hospital (MCH) to distribute the latest flyers and to engage with members.

North West Regional Hospital (NWRH)

Medical Ward, Acute Medical Unit (AMU), Med C Benchmarking – Step 2 Grievance

The ANMF along with North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) Medical Ward nurses were presented with the 2022-2023 Nursing Hours per Patient Day (NHpPD) benchmarking data on Wednesday 13 September 2023. The ANMF then met with members to discuss the response to Step 2 Grievance on Medical Ward, Med C and AMU. Members endorsed the ANMF to seek a meeting of the Step 2 Grievance Specialist Panel to clarify data and seek implementation of solutions that resolve the workload and skill mix concerns of members. Intensive Care Unit

The ANMF on behalf of NWRH Intensive Care Unit (ICU) members formally raised a Step 1 Grievance on Wednesday 13 September 2023. A response is expected by close of business Friday 22 September 2023 following which members will be consulted regarding next Steps. Keep an eye out for the invite in your inbox.

The ANMF along with ICU nurses were presented with the 2022-2023 NHpPD benchmarking data on Tuesday 19 September 2023. The data will be distributed for further discussion. In order that all members are able to vote on the endorsement process, ANMF members will receive a survey via email. Once the votes are collated the result will be sent to members via newsflash and the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) will be formally notified.

Mersey Community Hospital (MCH)

Close Observation Unit (COU) – Benchmarking

Mersey Community Hospital (MCH) COU 2022-2023 Nursing Hours per Patient Day (NHpPD) benchmarking data was endorsed by ANMF members at a meeting on Thursday 7 September 2023, noting that there is a current review of the allocated Full Time Equivalent (FTE) for the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) in response to the Step 1 Grievance.

Medical Ward

MCH Medical Ward 2022-2023 NHpPD benchmarking data was presented to the ANMF and Medical Ward nurses on Friday 8 September 2023. ANMF officials met with members on Tuesday 12 September 2023 to seek member feedback. A meeting to clarify data and present member feedback is planned for Wednesday 20 September 2023. ANMF members will be kept informed via meetings and a newsflash of the progress.

Emergency Department (ED)

The ANMF along with MCH ED nurses were presented with the 2022-2023 NHpPD benchmarking data on Thursday 14 September 2023. The data will be presented again this week. In order to ensure all members are able to vote on the endorsement process, ANMF members will receive a survey via email. Once the votes are collated the result will be sent to members via newsflash and the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) will be formally notified.

Day Procedure Unit – Oncology

The ANMF Medical Day Procedure – Oncology Unit endorsed the ANMF to raise a NHpPD Step 1 Grievance in August 2023 after a meeting was held on Friday 11 August 2023. The ANMF is advised that a minute was submitted to the Chief Executive on Friday 8 September 2023 seeking an increase in permanent Full Time Equivalent (FTE) for the MDPU. Whilst the timeframe for response is unknown, THS management is aware of the impact on the recruitment process and has flagged it as urgent.

Rehabilitation Unit

The ANMF along with MCH Rehabilitation Unit nurses were presented with the 2022-2023 NHpPD benchmarking data on Wednesday 6 September 2023. The ANMF conducted a member meeting on Wednesday 20 September 2023 to discuss the benchmarking and seek members endorsement. The THS will be formally notified of members direction.
