Public Sector Updates – South

Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH)

Ambulatory Care Centre (ACC)

The ANMF conducted a member meeting in the RHH Ambulatory Care Centre on Thursday 31 August 2023. Members expressed their disappointment with an apparent lack of progress towards a Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) position for the ‘liaison’ role, as well as dedicated Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) for a Clinical Coach and/or Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) – all of which are considered urgently warranted and overdue in the context of such a specialised care facility. A follow-up member meeting is scheduled for Thursday 28 September 2023, where it is envisaged that a vote regarding a potential grievance will be put to members.

Paediatrics/Adolescents (K6)

The ANMF, having conducted a vote at the members’ meeting of Friday 25 August 2023, has written to the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) to inform that by a 23 out of 24 margin the proposed outcomes for K6 Nursing Hours per Patient Day (NHpPD) Benchmarking are rejected. The ANMF has pledged to draft a response document by close of business Monday 18 September 2023.

Department of Critical Care Medicine

The ANMF has received multiple contacts from members working in RHH Department of Critical Care Medicine (DCCM) regarding their recent expansion into the new H-Block facility and ongoing/outstanding concerns raised initially through the Change Proposal process. All members are encouraged to submit any similar feedback to our ANMF Member Support Team via email at membersupport@anmftas.org.au. The ANMF remain committed to raising issues with THS as they arise.

Updates correct as at 6 September 2023.
