Aged Care Updates – Statewide
Statewide
Regis Aged Care
Regis Aged Care has announced that they will introduce a “continuity of carer” model of care into their Tasmanian aged care facilities. The ANMF has been assured this will have no reportable impact on aged care employees but will instead be a positive move as Regis Aged Care endeavours to employ more care workers. This will lead to an expansion in the care roster. Further, Regis Aged Care has assured the ANMF that the implementation of this model will not be rushed and that they will support this change by employing continuity champions supernumerary across all shifts for an 8-week period.
Southern Cross Care Tasmania (SCCT)
The ANMF has received recent correspondence from SCCT in which they have self-reported underpayment of employees’ wages. While the ANMF acknowledges and commends SCCT for reporting this matter, we remain concerned that this is not the first time SCCT have breached their obligations and under paid their employees. In recent weeks, the ANMF has been contacted by concerned members reporting that they also have been potentially under paid. If you believe that your wages have not been correctly calculated resulting in what you believe is an underpayment, the ANMF encourages you to contact Northern Organiser, Nicki Hood via email at Nicki.Hood@anmftas.org.au to discuss this matter. Alternatively, you can contact our ANMF Member Support Team.

Calvary Aged Care
The ANMF continues to work with the negotiating team to ensure a new Agreement is made whilst ensuring members’ entitlements are preserved. The next bargaining meeting is scheduled for Thursday 12 October 2023, and the ANMF remains confident a positive outcome will be forthcoming for members. Northern Organiser, Nicki Hood will be in the workplace once a full offer has been received for members to discuss and provide feedback. The ANMF is also writing to the employer and other stakeholders outlining the continuing concerns raised by ANMF members regarding the Enrolled Nurse (EN) Team Leader job description, and the impact recent workplace changes has had on ANMF Care Worker members. If you would like to voice your concerns over the recent workplace changes, please contact Northern Organiser, Nicki Hood via email at Nicki.Hood@anmftas.org.au.
