Ward 5D

The ANMF convened a meeting with LGH Ward 5D members on Wednesday 25 October 2023, to address the ongoing Step 1 Grievance. Members have given their endorsement for the ANMF to escalate the Grievance to Step 2. View the latest update.

Northside Clinic

The ANMF actively participated in a statewide Mental Health Service (MHS) Safe Staffing working group meeting held on Tuesday 24 October 2023. During the meeting, the ANMF put forward improvements to the proposed acute inpatient model to ensure that indirect nursing roles are considered within the business rules for the model. MHS management has proposed using a Nurse-Patient Ratio Model. Whilst supportive (noting the ANMF has long proposed Nurse-Patient Ratios) to explore this model, the ANMF emphasised the need for clearly defined business rules regarding indirect nursing hours. The ANMF is open to considering the Nurse-Patient Ratio model but needs further details and member consultation.

Ward 3R

The ANMF is scheduled to meet with LGH Ward 3R members on Wednesday 8 November 2023, to discuss a pending workload grievance currently at Step 1. The ANMF acknowledges that issues related to workload persist, including the implementation of solutions like clinical coaches, COVID-19 support positions, and support for Nurse Unit Managers (NUM). Despite commitments from the Tasmanian Health Service (THS), these solutions have not been realised. The ANMF anticipates that members will seek to elevate the grievance to Step 2 during the upcoming meeting.

Ward 6D

The ANMF will meet with LGH Ward 6D members on Thursday 9 November 2023 to discuss the current Step 1 Workload Grievance. Despite commitments from the THS to resolve the grievance, the ANMF acknowledges that workload issues persist. Solutions such as clinical coaches, COVID-19 support positions, and support for NUMs have not been implemented as anticipated. The ANMF expects that members will push for an elevation of the grievance to step 2 during the upcoming meeting.

Updates correct as at 1 November 2023.
