Private Sector Updates – Statewide

Statewide

Calvary Health Care Tasmania (CHCT)

Members have raised concerns about short staffing on numerous wards with Nurse Unit Managers (NUMs) reporting the executive team have directed them to not roster a full staffing profile. Members have been approached to undertake unpaid overtime and/or double shifts, while other members report being directed to return to work whilst on annual leave.

The ANMF remind members that you are not under obligation to accept extra shifts if this places you under stress or clashes with your other obligations. We strongly urge members not to accept unpaid overtime and to confirm extra shifts in writing from your NUM/Director of Nursing (DON) with the clause you will only accept the extra shift/s if paid. If members feel they are coerced into covering extra shifts, please contact your organiser so this can be raised with Calvary Healthcare.

North West

ANMF representatives have been catching up with UTAS nursing students this week. It’s an exciting time for our new students across the coast and we wish them all the best in 2024.

Updates correct as at 25 January 2024.
