ANMF meets with LGH Nurse Unit Managers (NUM) members

On Monday 26 August 2024, the ANMF met with LGH NUM members to discuss concerns about recruitment delays, rostering challenges, inconsistent support for NUMs, quality and safety issues, and the need for supernumerary ANUM support. The ANMF will address these concerns and seek their inclusion in the broader hospital-wide workload grievance while pursuing specific solutions for the NUM cohort. Further updates to follow.

Coordinated Approach to Industrial Action at LGH Emergency Department (ED)

On Tuesday 27 August 2024, the ANMF met with LGH ED members and ward representatives to coordinate industrial action efforts. Members agreed that during periods when wards are not answering phones, ED-to-ward communication will be managed via the ANUM phone. Wards exercising their right to ‘no forced redeployment’ will support ED during bed-block and Code Yellow situations. Wards will also prioritise opening closed beds and cleaning to assist ED members during bed block. Members reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing actions and called on the Government and THS management to address the issues driving the industrial action. Further updates to follow.

ANMF Continues Discussions with Ward 4N members

On Monday 2 September 2024, the ANMF held a second meeting with Ward 4N members to address the process for re-securing the lost code nurse position, establishing a nursing model for 4N, and supporting the education of new learners. The ANMF will formally raise a grievance, include 4N concerns in the broader LGH grievance, and arrange a meeting with LGH management to discuss these issues. Further updates to follow.

Updates are correct as of 5 September 2024.
