Industrial Officer – Part Time (Launceston)

The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation Tasmanian Branch (ANMF) is the largest union and professional body in Tasmania, representing, advancing, and empowering Nurses, Midwives and Care Workers. About the role:

The Industrial Officer provides industrial relations support and advice on a variety of matters in both public and private sector workplaces.
You will be based in our Launceston office working on a part-time basis (4 days per week).

Working closely with front line ANMF staff and members, as an Industrial Officer you will: 

  • Conduct Enterprise Agreement negotiations
  • Provide advice and support to ANMF members, including case management, workplace and legal representation
  • Provide specialist advice and support to internal ANMF staff
  • Liaise with relevant ANMF staff, legal advisers, Commission Officers, and other external stakeholders
  • Prepare a variety of documentation including information flyers, written articles and submissions, legal briefs and media releases

To be a success in this role you will bring:

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation pertaining to industrial relations, employment law and (ideally) the health sector broadly
  • Highly developed interpersonal and written communication skills, (ideally) including drafting skills relating to industrial instruments
  • The capacity to provide advocacy services
  • Highly developed time management and computer skills
  • A high attention to detail
  • A current valid driver’s license
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., in Law, IR or HR disciplines) is desirable but not required
