Public Sector Updates – North
Launceston General Hospital (LGH)
Temporary Organiser Change
The ANMF wishes to advise that LGH Organiser Shane Rickerby will be stepping into a Statewide role for the next three months. During this time, Shane will continue to be involved at an industrial level at the LGH but will not be available for the day-to-day support of member issues on site.
Filling the LGH organiser role in the interim will be Kristy Free. Kristy has been with the ANMF for the past six months, working as an organiser across the North and North West, covering Primary Health North and the Mersey Community Hospital (MCH). In this time Kristy has been a great advocate for members across these sites.
Kristy brings over 10 years of nursing experience, having worked as a care worker before becoming an Enrolled Nurse (EN) and then a Registered Nurse (RN). Kristy’s clinical background spans both the public and private health sectors in New South Wales, including experience in theatres, mental health, medical, aged care and general practice nursing.
We are confident that Kristy will provide strong support to LGH members and continue the important work of advocating for safe workloads, fair conditions, and quality care.
Please make Kristy feel welcome and reach out if you need any support during this period.
Tasmanian Health Service (THS) North
The ANMF is aware THS North is preparing to move services out of the Allambie Building in preparation for construction starting on a Hospice service. The ANMF is waiting for the formal Change Proposal document to be circulated prior to any moves as part of a Consultation phase. The ANMF encourages members to raise their initial thoughts/concerns with Assistant Director of Nursing Annette Barrett and/or Human Resource (HR)/People & Culture Rachel Beach so these concerns can be addressed within the consultation phase. Once the ANMF is in receipt of the Change Proposal document we will formally raise any feedback from members as part of the Change Proposal process.
Updates are correct as of 1 May 2025.
