Launceston General Hospital (LGH)

HVAC Heating

The ANMF has written to the Minister for Health to express our deep disappointment and growing concern over the Government’s continued failure to deliver on promised upgrades to the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) air conditioning and heating systems. View the latest update.

Emergency Department (ED)

The ANMF met with members of LGH Emergency Department (ED) to discuss working conditions and the end of the 6-week CODE YELLOW suspension. Members continue to express deep concerns about working below benchmarked levels most shifts. The ANMF will continue working with members and workplace delegates on ways to ensure the promised additional Full Time Equivalent (FTE) is fully implemented by THS.

Ward 4D and Northern Coronary Care Unit

The ANMF has met with members on wards 4D & Northern Coronary Care Unit (NCCU) to discuss the Phase 2 Change Proposal and the proposed benchmarking for both wards. Members on both wards have expressed concerns about the proposed benchmarking. The ANMF is formulating a response to management and requesting further clarification and consultation on issues raised by members, keep an eye out for further updates.

Ward 5D

The meeting scheduled to discuss the outstanding Step 2 Grievance had to be rescheduled due to an outbreak on the ward. This meeting has been rescheduled to 6 June 2025.

Acute Medical Unit

The meeting scheduled for 27 May 2025 had to be rescheduled due to last minute internal education, this meeting has now been rescheduled to 20 June 2025.

Upcoming Meetings

Next week the ANMF will be holding member meetings at Ward 5A, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Ward 5D, Ward 6D please keep an eye out for details and ensure your workplace is up to date in your member portal so you do not miss relevant notifications.

Primary Health North Allambie Building

The ANMF is aware Tasmanian Health Service (THS) North is preparing to move services out of the Allambi Building in preparation for construction starting on a Hospice service. The ANMF has written to the director of nursing requesting the formal Change Proposal document be provided by close of business Thursday 29 May 2025, otherwise ANMF members preserve the right to take the matter to the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC), citing a breach of the award around the lack of consultation.
