Public Sector Updates – North

Launceston General Hospital Emergency Department

The ANMF is providing an update to members working in the Emergency Department (ED) at the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) following the third Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) conciliation conference, held on Tuesday 3 February 2026.

While some progress has been reported in recent months, the ANMF notes with disappointment that, despite extensive discussions, the core outcomes sought by members in the original application remain unresolved. This dispute is now approaching 18 months in duration. View the latest update

Launceston General Hospital Ward 5A

The ANMF is seeking feedback from members on Ward 5A at the LGH regarding workload and staffing following the introduction of the clinical coach role. View the latest update

Launceston General Hospital Wombat Ward

The ANMF met with Wombat Ward members on Thursday 5 February 2026 to review the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) response to the Step 1 Grievance originally lodged on Thursday 16 October 2025.

Following detailed discussion with members, it is clear the matters raised remain unresolved. While the THS provided some information, a number of key concerns were either not addressed or only partially addressed. As a result, members continue to experience sustained and unreasonable workloads, inconsistent with the requirements of the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Interim Agreement 2013. View the latest update

Updates correct as at 25 February 2026.
