Public Sector Updates – Statewide

Public Sector Statewide Emergency Departments

On Wednesday 25 February 2026, the ANMF lodged an urgent application in the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) because the Department has made changes in the Emergency Department that it is not allowed to make while a formal dispute is underway. Read full update.

Transfer of Care Offload Time Dispute Update

The ANMF (Tasmanian Branch) has made an emergency application to the Tasmanian Industrial Commission to seek a status quo direction with respect to the Transfer of Care Protocol, which is due to head to arbitration in March 2026. Read full update.

Public Sector Other Unions Industrial Action

The ANMF has been made aware that some nurses and midwives are being approached — or in some cases directed — to undertake duties normally performed by other Public Sector workers who are currently taking protected industrial action.

These tasks include cleaning shifts and other non-nursing duties that have not formed part of nursing custom and practice for many years and do not fall within the professional scope or contemporary expectations of nursing work. View the latest update.

Updates are correct as of 25 February 2026.
