Public Sector Updates – North

Launceston General Hospital (LGH)

The LGH continues to operate under extreme capacity pressures, with persistent overcrowding in the Emergency Department (ED) and ongoing demand exceeding the hospital’s available inpatient capacity. Primary Health North Allambi

The ANMF is aware the services which have operated out of the Allambi building are currently in active relocation status. From the initial proposal to relocate these services to an inner-city site, ANMF members have sought to be part of the conversations, with hundreds of comments and submissions made to the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) regarding the relocation of these vital health services. Updates are correct as of 17 July 2026.
