Launceston General Hospital (LGH) Update

Emergency Department Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) Change Proposal

The ANMF have been extensively involved in the Tasmanian Health Services (THS) change proposal to adjust the spread of hours of the Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) position in the LGH Emergency Department. We would like to make it clear that this change proposal has come at the direction of THS management, it has never been discussed at the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC). The TIC is looking at general nursing workload concerns. They are two distinctively different issues. Any ANMF members who have concerns regarding either of the above-mentioned issues are encouraged to contact the ANMF Member Support Team via membersupport@anmftas.org.au.

Emergency Department Bench Marking

ANMF met with members from the LGH Emergency Department on Monday 26 August to discuss the proposed new benchmarking figure. Emergency Department members endorsed the proposed benchmarking which will see an increase of approximately 4 FTE of direct care nursing hours for the department. Members have raised concern regarding workloads of Cat 8 patients not being captured. The ANMF have raised this matter with THS management and are awaiting further advice. Further updates regarding this matter will be communicated with members via email and scheduled member meetings.

Crisis Assessment Triage Team (CATT) Roster Change Proposal

The ANMF attended the final trial meeting for the Crisis Assessment Triage Team (CATT) roster change on Wednesday 21 August. Feedback regarding the trial from those in attendance at the meeting was positive. Members are encouraged to contact the ANMF Member Support Team via email membersupport@anmftas.org.au if they have any concerns regarding the new roster.
