COVID-19 Vigil
Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, nurses, midwives and care workers who have stepped up to protect the health and wellbeing of their patients in a time of fear of the unknown. While many in the community have been responsibly isolating to help halt virus’ progression, nurses have sacrificed time with their families and loved ones to ensure care and compassion to those in need. Tragically, this has meant that across the world many nurses have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus and in some cases, lost their lives as a result. An estimated 301 nurses from 32 countries are known to have died from the virus to date. Yesterday, on International Nurses Day we honoured these incredible people with an online candle light vigil.
