Nurse Educator (South)

About the role

The Nurse Educator is a Registered Nurse who will be accountable for the delivery and assessment of education and training programs delivered by HERC. The Educator will also be responsible for contribution to, and compliance with, relevant standards, policies and procedures that relate to nationally recognised and accredited training.

This is a 0.5 FTE position, initially offered on an 18-month fixed term contract, with the possibility of permanency thereafter.

In the role you will:

  • Contribute to, and undertake the development, delivery and assessment of training programs, lesson plans and other training sessions
  • Use a variety of relevant technologies to assist in the delivery of education and training
  • Conduct workplace training and assessment of students at various sites for clinical placements
  • Mentor and support students
  • Assist in the development of appropriate assessment tools and processes for training sessions
  • Contribute to the quality improvement, assurance processes and RTO Standards for VET
  • Maintain effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including industry partners and group training organisations, sources of student referrals and placements, quality and other regulators, nursing/midwifery organisations and the higher/VET education sectors

To be a success in this role you will possess: 

  • Current Nurse (RN) resignation
  • A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or higher qualification (or be working towards this)
  • Experience in an area of practice relevant to training courses provided by HERC
  • A capacity to work in an autonomous and self-directed manner within a small team
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to provide guidance and support to students
  • Sound problem solving, time management and negotiation/advocacy skills
  • A commitment to your own ongoing professional development
  • “Working with Vulnerable People” registration, a current driver’s license and “National Police Check” (or the ability to attain these)
