The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) have acted in good faith by allowing Mental Health Statewide Services executive a final chance to act under the Step 2 Grievance Procedure, as per the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2014, Nursing Hours Per Patient Day, Appendix E.

A failure to act within a timely manner will result in the matter being taken to the Commissioner. The grievance arises due to a lack of adequate response to Step 1 grievance. The Step 1 grievance arose due to nurses reports of unreasonable workloads within the Department of Psychiatry caused by understaffing.

The ANMF continue to raise this matter as a risk to health and safety of both our members and their patients and will continue to do so until an outcome that rectifies this risk is in place.
