Last Friday the annual ANMF/HERC Acute Care Conference was held in Launceston at the Tailrace Centre. The day was a huge success with many nurses and midwives in attendance from around the state who were keen to learn more from industry professionals  about issues in the acute care sector. Attendees heard from many inspiring guest speakers including; Dr. Faline Howes, Nigel Chong, Scott Rigby and many more. This year, in lieu of speaker gifts, ANMF donated $500 to Magnolia House Launceston Women’s Shelter (LWS) which is a specialist homelessness service funded by the Crown through the Department of Health and Human Services. They offer short term crisis accommodation for women and their children experiencing homelessness. The majority of their clients are homeless due to family violence. If you missed out on this years Acute Care Conference, don’t worry as there will be another opportunity to attend the conference in 2019.
