Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) Updates

Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM)
The ANMF have granted Tasmanian Health Service (THS) management a one-week extension to the original deadline for response to our Step 1 Grievance letter dated 11 October 2019. The new response date is Friday 1 November 2019. The ANMF will organise a member meeting as soon as possible following receipt of this letter where we will relay the content and outcomes to affected members.

Neonatal Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (NPICU)
The ANMF invite all members working in the RHH Neonatal Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (NPICU) to a member meeting today, Wednesday 30 October commencing at 1430 hours. This will follow on immediately from the ward staff meeting. This meeting is to discuss workload and staffing issues.

Casual Pool
The ANMF conducted a member meeting for casual relief staff on 28 October 2019, to discuss ongoing ramifications of the recently implemented reductions in casual shift times. This meeting was productive and the ANMF will continue to work with not only casuals but all THS staff in mitigating the tangible clinical impact this change has had across the service.

Ward 5A – Surgical Specialties/Orthopaedics
In response to member concerns, ANMF have received advice from THS management that additional permanent FTE is to be made available to Ward 5A as a matter of urgency. This move is designed to address the longstanding absence of ANUM’s and to facilitate additional nursing resources. This also includes an expansion to the Clinical Coach capacity. The ANMF will soon arrange a member meeting with Ward 5A to formally relay these outcomes to members.

Wellington Centre Outpatient Clinics

The ANMF are awaiting advice from THS management as to an appropriate time and date to conduct a member meeting within Outpatient Clinics Service to discuss workload and staffing issues. Once this meeting has been determined, the ANMF will advise members directly via email and workplace notices.

Updates correct as at 30 October 2019
