Launceston General Hospital (LGH) Update

On 18 October 2019, the ANMF met with Members working in the LGH Emergency Department (ED). During this meeting, Members raised ongoing and new concerns regarding access block, overcrowding and skill mix issues within the ED.

The ANMF wrote to Tasmanian Health Service (THS) management on the 23 October 2019 to raise these concerns on behalf of Members. THS management have responded to letter, inviting the ANMF along with Workplace Representatives to the next ED Consultative Committee meeting scheduled on 20 November 2019. The ANMF were also advised that the THS will commence advertising the additional FTE identified from the bench marking process as soon as possible.

North East Soldiers Memorial Hospital (NESMH) Scottsdale

On 23 October 2019, the ANMF met with Members working at NESMH to discuss the Hospital Aide pattern of hours at the hospital.

Following this meeting, the ANMF wrote to THS Primary Health North to request that consideration be given to an 8 hour shift seven days a week, with no change to the Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse roster for weekend shifts.

The ANMF are pleased to report that THS Primary Health North have granted this request, which will come into effect from the beginning of the next 4-week roster period. The ANMF will continue to support and advocate for our members working at NESMH.
