Launceston General Hospital (LGH) Update

Emergency Department

The Launceston General Hospital (LGH) Emergency Department (ED) Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) Conference was scheduled for Tuesday 17 February 2020. The ANMF raised, yet again, the issues faced by our members.

The Department have been advised to come back to the President with a report back in a couple of weeks.  It may be the matter will ultimately be referred to the TIC for arbitration.  While this may be one way to have the matter addressed, the ANMF are concerned about the time frames such an approach might take while members continue to deal with unreasonable workloads.

The ANMF will schedule a member meeting to provide a report back to members.

George Town District Hospital (GTDH)

ANMF held a follow up meeting with members at GTDH in regards to workload concerns raised by members. As a result members have committed to a period of data collection around workload concerns using the ANMF Workload form, these have been distributed to members via email. Upon receipt of this information the ANMF will consider the option of raising a Step 1 workload grievance under the Nurses and Midwives Agreement 2014. A further member meeting will be scheduled shortly. In the meantime, as an apparent admission that staffing on the afternoon is inadequate, a Community Nurse has been allocated to those hours. However, this is creating workload issues for the Community Nursing Team.
