May Shaw are now reviewing the ANMF’s comments sent to management in November 2019. The ANMF will provide further detail as they come to hand. Medea Park

On Friday 18 February 2020, the ANMF received a request from the Medea Park Bargaining Representative to include a late change into the draft agreement. This change would place a more onerous obligation on employees in the circumstances where termination payment was not made within the prescribed timeframe. The ANMF have written back to the Bargaining Representative to advise that the proposed change has not been accepted and that the agreement be drafted as per the original agreed terms.  A response from Medea Park is still pending.

Southern Cross Care Tas Inc.

An Enterprise Agreement negotiation meeting was held on 20 February 2020. As a sign of goodwill Southern Cross Care Tas are providing a 2% pay rise to start from the pay period of 24 February 2020. The ANMF have made it clear that this is a good start, but it is far from an acceptable pay rise. The ANMF thank the members who have decided to be part of the negotiation team to help get the message out to members. Southern Cross Care Tas have informed the negotiation team that they will have a response to the ANMF Log of Claims by 5 March 2020. The next scheduled meeting will be held at Gleneara Lakes, Launceston on 10 March 2020.

Corumbene

Enterprise Agreement negotiations between Corombene and ANMF representatives and members continue. The next meeting will be held on 11 March 2020 at Corumbene. The ANMF thank all of the members who have taken part in the negotiating team. It is through their participation that we will be able to maintain and improve conditions for members. It is always very valuable to have the voice of employees at the table. The ANMF is looking forward to viewing Corumbene’s offer to our Log of Claims at the next meeting.

Menarock

The ANMF have received and reviewed Menarock’s response to the members Log of Claims and are currently in negotiations with members about the offer. Members are concerned about some of the conditions within the Agreement. We have noted that Menarock employees have not received a pay rise since 1 January 2017, despite this (and with costs of living, especially in relation to rents, rising higher in Hobart than in other states) they are offering a pay increase of 2.5% from the first pay period after a positive vote.

The ANMF is also aware of members concerns about changes to their contracted hours at Menarock. The employer cannot unilaterally alter (including reduce) your contracted hours of work.  Do not feel pressured to ‘agree’ to a change.  Advise the employer that you will ‘think about the suggestion’ and get back to them. We encourage members who feel that they are being adversely affected to contact the ANMF Member Support Team.

Aged Care visits with our Member Communications Officer, Mandy Clark

ANMF Member Communications and Engagement Officer, Mandy Clark is looking forward to catching up with members in the coming weeks, giving them the opportunity to raise workplace issues. During some visits Mandy will be joined by newest ANMF Aged Care Organiser, Jane Campbell as she gets to know the sites. To date, Jane has met a great range of members and is looking forward to meeting many many more. “It is fantastic to see the passion members have to maintain their current work conditions” said Jane.

This year has started as a very busy one with numerous Enterprise Agreements negotiations taking place and more to commence throughout the year. These negotiations are very important to our members as it determines the outcome of the workloads and conditions as to make a workplace a happy and safe place to work not only for employees but for the residents of the facilities.

Updates correct as at 4 March 2020.
